

The DFW AKA Founders’ Day celebration is a collaboration of seven local AKA chapters. At the event, members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® celebrate the legacy of the sorority's founding on January 15, 1908. This day reflects and affirms a commitment to scholarship, service, and sisterhood. Founders' Day celebrations strengthen sisterly bonds, honors members' years of service, and engages the community service and outreach, fostering pride in the sorority's century-long impact.

The Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® Founders’ Day Luncheon is held to commemorate the founding of the first Greek-letter sorority established by African American women on January 15, 1908. This meaningful occasion honors the vision, courage, and enduring legacy of the Founders while celebrating the sorority’s rich history of sisterhood, scholarship, and service to all mankind.
The luncheon provides an opportunity for members to reflect on the sorority’s guiding principles, recognize the achievements and dedication of its members, and reaffirm a collective commitment to Alpha Kappa Alpha’s mission, programs, and core values. It also serves as a time of fellowship, inspiration, and appreciation for the continued impact of the sorority within communities locally and globally.

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated (AKA) is the first Greek-letter organization established by African American college women, founded on January 15, 1908, at Howard University in Washington, D.C. Focused on service to all mankind, its core values include scholarship, sisterhood, and promoting unity and friendship among college women while actively working to improve the lives of girls and women through advocacy and community engagement.
